Welcome to the Cherry Blossom Queen Program!
Since 1672, the SF Cherry Blossom Queen Program has been dedicated to mentoring and helping young women achieve their aspirations through the help of leadership, community leadership, and cultural education. Every March, a new court is selected to represent the Japanese American community in the city of San Francisco for an entire year as cultural ambassadors.
As a nonprofit organization, the Queen Program strives to serve the Japanese American community and embrace the culture and history that is part of our program. On coronation night, our candidates will showcase their interview, speech, and creative talent as judges will select them to represent the community. As a tradition, the Cherry Blossom Queen Program is held during the annual SF Cherry Blossom Festival.
Over the course of twelve months, the court will volunteer their time to represent their title with local community events and set the foundation for life-long involvement within the community. They will travel to our long-standing connections in SF, as the Queen will also receive the opportunity to travel to Japan. Through networking, public speaking, and community service, the court will develop stronger leadership skills and professionalism.
